ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS is one of them that confuses many administrators and users. Troubleshooting err_too_many_redirects is not always easy. The ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS means the website keeps redirecting between different addresses like, www to non-www or HTTP to HTTPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This type of error usually occurs in WordPress and Magento CMS as they use a base_url or URL type configuration within the site. This error is also known as the 310 error or 404 page not found. In simple terms, the ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS means the web browser does not know where it is supposed to go or cannot reach your site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Basic Reasons for ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Usually, the reason for ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS is an incorrectly configured redirects or problems with domain mapping. The most common issues that cause a redirect error are listed below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Multiple websites are hosted on a single IP address.<\/li><li>Incorrect .htaccess file.<\/li><li>Incorrectly configured WordPress settings.<\/li><li>Conflict with plugins.<\/li><li>CDN caching problem.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In this tutorial, we will explain what causes err_too_many_redirects and how troubleshooting it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clear Browser Cache<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes, corrupted or outdated cookies can cause the ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS error. If your website is still not working, you can proceed to the next step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Check URL Settings<\/strong> of your WordPress<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The most common reasons for redirect loop error is your <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/WordPress\" target=\"_blank\">WordPress<\/a> home URL and website URL do not match. So for troubleshooting err_too_many_redirects, it is a good idea to check whether your WordPress URL settings are configured correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To fix this, log in to your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globo.tech\/learning-center\/how-to-install-wordpress-on-centos-7\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WordPress<\/a> admin dashboard and click on the settings tab. Review your WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL)\" class=\"wp-image-5133\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.globo.tech\/learning-center\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/WordPress-Settings-Review-575x300.png 575w, https:\/\/www.globo.tech\/learning-center\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/WordPress-Settings-Review-768x401.png 768w, https:\/\/www.globo.tech\/learning-center\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/WordPress-Settings-Review.png 1284w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 575px) 100vw, 575px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the <strong>General<\/strong> <strong>Settings<\/strong> page, check your WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure both URLs are configured properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong> : don&#8217;t leave a trailing slash at the end of your URL like http:\/\/www.your-domain.com\/<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don&#8217;t have permission to access the WordPress admin dashboard, you can define this setting by editing wp-config.php file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Connect your website with an FTP client, open the wp-config.php file and add the following lines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"> define('WP_HOME','http:\/\/your-domain.com');\n define('WP_SITEURL','http:\/\/your-domain.com');<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<br class=\"custom-break\">\n\n\n\n<p>Save the file and try to access your WordPress site. If you got any error then try to add your domain with the www prefix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disable The .htaccess File<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes, the .htaccess file can also cause your website goes into a loop of redirection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can rename the .htaccess file to fix the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the below steps to disable the .htaccess file:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> Open the File Manager using your control panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong> Find your .htaccess file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong> Right-click on the .htaccess file and rename it to a different name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, try to check your website whether it is working or not. If it works correctly, then you will need to edit the .htaccess file and add the default configuration as shown below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"> &lt;IfModule mod_rewrite.c>\n RewriteEngine On\n RewriteBase \/\n RewriteRule ^index.php$ \u2013 [L]\n RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f\n RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d\n RewriteRule . \/index.php [L]\n &lt;\/IfModule><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<br class=\"custom-break\">\n\n\n\n<p>Save and close the file when you are finished. This method will help you to fix the problem immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disable Corrupted Plugins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes, corrupted or outdated plugins can also cause err_too_many_redirects error. You can try to disable them to fix the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.
